The new line: Targa bar, bow nose, Chinese
The Slovenian shipyard Seaway is launching a new Shipman 57, which is set to become the ultimate performance cruiser in its size class

Built entirely from carbon fibre and equipped with high stability, plenty of sail area and modern lines, the boat is a real hit. And as a promenade mix: the deckhouse and targa bar may be visually distracting, but the fixed bow nose and long chines make up for this. Other features include halyards and sheet winches mounted aft near the wheels and two U-shaped seating areas in front; the working and recreation areas are thus clearly separated. Another striking feature is the completely open foredeck. Seaway co-owners Jakopin & Jakopin, US-American Douglas Peterson and Frenchman Guillaume Verdier are responsible for the design. New to the Seaway team is Pault Wuyts, the long-standing sales and marketing manager of the Grand Soleil/Dufour Group.

The Shipman series has so far consisted of the types 50, 63, 72 and 80, with around 50 units built in total. These were always semi-custom boats, i.e. series-built decks and hulls with a maximum of customisation options.
